Overview

Furniture Production

Furniture Production is a plugin for turning 3D product models into production-ready cutting data for BeeGraphy’s node-based editor. It structures each solid part of a furniture model, prepares it for machining, and packages it into a ZIP of sheet programs without ever opening the CAM panel.

The plugin adds one node group, Furniture Production, with four nodes that take a 3D product model through part identification, edge banding, nesting, and CAM export.

Main Node Groups

Furniture Production

The Furniture Production group prepares furniture parts for a production line and exports milling paths as a single package.

  • Set Part Info tags each part with its Module, Sub-module, name, Grain Direction, and Face Side. When Grain Direction is left empty, vertical parts automatically get vertical grain and horizontal parts get grain along the product’s width, so grained sheet materials can be nested correctly later.
  • Edge Banding applies a linear-flat banding material to the sides of a part facing chosen directions: Front −Y, Back +Y, Left −X, Right +X, Top +Z, Bottom −Z. Directions along the part’s thickness are skipped, and optional edges band the sides they lie on as well. This node also defines the Cut Size used later: Finished Size minus banding, plus the edgebander’s Trim Allowance on straight edges.
  • Prepare Parts reads each part’s outline and thickness from its solid, lays it flat, and rotates grained parts so their grain aligns with the sheet grain before locking their rotation. It validates the part against the Production Line’s router and groups parts into one branch per sheet material, allowing a nesting node to run once per material. Banded parts are output as Cut Size blocks.
  • Production Package builds one Sheet Program per Cutting Map through beegraphy-cam’s headless milling path and packs them all into a single ZIP, with one folder per router. If any part cannot be processed, the whole package is blocked rather than producing an incomplete export.

Examples

Tagging and Edging a Cabinet Part

Connect the 3D box representing a cabinet side to Set Part Info, fill in Module, Sub-module, and name, and leave Grain Direction empty so the vertical side is tagged for vertical grain. Pass the result to Edge Banding and choose Front and Top: the visible long edges of the side receive banding, while the thickness edges are skipped because they lie along the part’s thickness. Finally, Prepare Parts reads the side’s material, flattens the part, aligns its grain with the sheet grain, and outputs a Cut Size block with the banding and trim allowance subtracted.

Nesting by Material

Feed a full cabinet assembly into Set Part Info, then Edge Banding, then Prepare Parts. Because the assembly contains melamine panels and a plywood back, Prepare Parts creates one branch for each sheet material. From there, run a separate nesting node per branch: the nested melamine panels go to one Cutting Map, the plywood back to another, and Production Package turns both maps into one ZIP with folders named per router.

Packaging a Cutting Map

After nesting cut parts into Cutting Maps, pass the maps directly into Production Package. The node generates headless milling paths through beegraphy-cam, writes one Sheet Program per Cutting Map, and compresses everything into a ZIP that is ready to hand over to the production workshop.
